This department drafts and advises transacting parties in relation to commercial contracts, facilitates reportable and non-reportable mergers and acquisitions, assists in competition commission related issues and advises on corporate restructuring, business enterprises as well as a plethora of commercial transactions.

EVICTIONS

Du Plessis & Mostert has a team of Attorneys with invaluable knowledge of eviction proceedings in terms of the PIE Act, the ESTA Act as well as commercial evictions.

Whilst understanding the complexities arising from the unlawful occupation of property, we aim to assist our clients with the eviction process as swiftly and cost effectively as possible.

WILLS & ESTATES

The department’s skilled and experienced practitioners offer specialist advice in the drafting and execution of wills. These services extend to advising on effective structures with a view to minimizing estate duty exposure and address clients’ unique succession planning needs.

OUR HISTORY

Mr Pierre du Plessis was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, Western Cape Division, on 12 February 1925 and on the same day started the sole proprietorship under the name Pierre du Plessis Attorneys. Mr Barry Schapiro later joined the firm as a partner, but moved to Bellville by the end of 1966.

Mr Eddie Mostert (Snr) then joined the firm as a partner in January 1967 and since then, the other and current partners, namely Jan Potgieter, Marius van Zyl and Eduard Mostert (Jnr), joined the firm.

Du Plessis & Mostert was named the third-best small law firm in South Africa by the leading magazine "Professional Management Review - Africa" a few years ago - an achievement of which the firm is very proud.
